Transfer Students
We're excited you are considering transferring to become a Golden Eagle and joining the Tennessee Tech Family! By enrolling at a college or university after you’ve graduated high school, you’re considered a transfer student. Below you’ll find information on the admission requirements for transfer students, step-by-step guide to applying and enrolling, how your credits will transfer, our new Roane to Tech Program, and some reasons why you'll love it at Tech!
Admission Requirements
If you have attended college after graduating from high school and have earned 24 college-level, transferable credit hours, you're a transfer student! If you haven't earned 24 college-level credit hours, you will be evaluated on a combination of freshman and transfer requirements.
Transfer Students
- 2.00+ GPA in your last full-time semester (or last 12 hrs for part-time students)
and
- 2.00+ overall GPA, including all previous coursework at all institutions (excepting development courses)
- » What if I don't meet the minimum requirements for admission?
If you do not meet these requirements, it is still possible to be admitted to Tennessee Tech. You are important as an individual and your grades or test scores might not tell your whole story. The Holistic Review Committee, comprised of administrators, faculty members and staff from across the university, meets regularly to evaluate applications on a student-by-student basis. After you submit all necessary items for your application, you will be notified if you qualify for an individual, holistic review.
You will be asked to submit a brief letter of explanation describing the background behind your previous academic history like GPA and test scores. Also, please include a plan of action outlining how you will overcome previous challenges to be successful as a Tech student. Email your holistic review letter to transcripts@tntech.edu. The holistic review process will begin once all of your application items have been received and when we have received your letter of explanation. Please contact the Office of Admissions if you have any questions about the holistic review process - admissions@tntech.edu, (931) 372-3635.
Reverse Transfer
If you are transferring from a Tennessee Community college before receiving an associate
degree, you may be able to earn your associate degree while also working toward a
bachelor's degree at Tennessee Tech through the Tennessee Reverse Transfer Program.
For this program, your community college will need to periodically review your academic
progress at Tennessee Tech. Contact our Admissions Office at (931) 372-3635 or admissions@tntech.edu for more information. You can also visit our Reverse Transfer page.
Start at Roane State and Finish at Tech
