About
Dr. Ann Boyd Davis joined the Tennessee Tech faculty in 2012 after spending two years at Clemson University. She received her Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Tennessee in 2010. Dr. Davis graduated in 2001 with her MAcc degree with a concentration in Taxation from the University of Tennessee. She graduated from Tennessee Tech in 2000 with BSBA degrees in Accounting and Finance. Prior to obtaining her Ph.D., she worked with Arthur Andersen, LLP and Ernst & Young, LLP in the Chattanooga, Tennessee, offices and left as a Tax Manager in the Federal Tax Consulting practice. Dr. Davis is a licensed CPA in the state of Tennessee and a CGMA.
Dr. Davis holds the rank of full professor. Her research interests include the effects that federal tax legislation has on state tax policies, revenues, and economic climates. Dr. Davis also enjoys research focused on improving classroom experiences and learning and has recently examined financial literacy in elementary and college students. Her research has been published in Behavioral Research in Accounting, Journal of the American Taxation Association, Advances in Accounting Education, Advances in Taxation, Tennessee CPA Journal, and State Tax Notes.
Her primary teaching interest is corporate taxation and financial accounting. In 2019 and 2022, Dr. Davis received Tennessee Tech’s College of Business Excellence in Overall Performance Award. In 2020, she received the Tennessee Tech’s College of Business Inaugural Faculty Career Ready Advocate Award. Dr. Davis will serve as the coordinator for the Master of Accountancy program in Fall 2022.
