Dr. Beth Howard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting.  She joined the Tennessee Tech faculty in 2008 after spending one year at MTSU. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2007. Dr. Howard obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Tennessee Tech in 1999 and her MBA from Tennessee Tech in 2002.  Prior to obtaining her Ph.D., she worked as a registered client services associate at UBS (having passed the Series 7 exam) and as a corporate accountant at Cummins, Inc. Dr. Howard obtained her CPA in 2012, earning the Elijah Watt Sells Award for outstanding performance on the CPA exam. She teaches taxation in both the undergraduate accounting and MAcc programs at Tech and also teaches technology for accountants and financial accounting. Her research interests are in the areas of tax policy, tax compliance, and accounting education. Dr. Howard has been published in the Journal of Accountancy, Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research, the Municipal Finance Journal, and Practical Tax Strategies. Dr. Howard received the Curtis Kinslow Excellence in Teaching Award in 2012 and 2019.
