About
Wendy Cook-Mucci began teaching at Tennessee Tech University in 2010, following previous teaching roles at Southern Illinois University and adjunct positions at Middle Tennessee State University and Tennessee State University. In 2021-2022, she was honored with the General Education Award for Outstanding Teaching. Wendy has a broad teaching portfolio, including courses in Marriage and Family, Qualitative Research Methods, Medical Sociology, Sex and Gender, Sociology of Food, Women and Poverty, and Race.
One of her favorite classes to teach is Intro to Sociology, where she introduces a diverse group of students to the field, hoping they fall in love with sociology as much as she has. Her current research interests include cross-cultural comparisons of family dining experiences and exploring how adult women distance runners balance their sport with family life. Outside of academia, Wendy is an ultrarunner and avid backpacker who enjoys spending quality time with her husband and four children.
