About

Dr. Steven Seiler is a Professor of Sociology and Social Work and the Director of the Tennessee Tech Center for Addiction Prevention and Support. Dr. Seiler earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Tennessee, an MSW from Middle Tennessee State University, an M.S. in Sociology (and Graduate Certificate in International Research) from Virginia Tech, and a B.A. in Sociology and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia. Dr. Seiler is the Director of the Tennessee Tech Addiction Prevention and Support Coalition and a graduate of the CADCA Coalition Academy. He is also a mental health therapist and works with community partners on substance use prevention efforts. Dr. Seiler’s scholarly interests include examining factors contributing to poor mental health and substance misuse and understanding the structure and dynamics of self, identity, and personal relationships. Dr. Seiler enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He is an avid cyclist and a diehard Nashville SC and UGA fan.
