About
Ward Doubet has been professionally focused on craftsmanship in the visual arts for
over thirty-five years. After completing undergraduate majors in art and philosophy,
he operated Wataga Stoneware, producing and marketing high-fired functional pottery.
He earned the MFA in ceramics at the University of Oregon, and studied art history,
art theory, and taught the history of art and ceramics at the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago.
Doubet taught ceramics, design and art history at North Dakota State University and
served as interim chairperson for the Department of Music and Art. He came to Tennessee
Tech as the director of the Appalachian Center for Craft, was the first chairperson
of the Department of Art and he was instrumental in developing Tennessee Tech’s School
of Art, Craft and Design. Doubet is currently teaching foundations courses full-time
and serves as the foundations coordinator.
