About
David Odegaard teaches applied Double Bass, Music Appreciation, Harmony, and Aural Techniques as an adjunct at Tennessee Tech University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from The University of Central Florida and a Master’s degree in Music Theory from Southern Methodist University. At the University of Central Florida, Mr. Odegaard taught music theory, aural skills, applied double bass, and established its first computer assisted ear training lab.
While in the Dallas, Texas area Mr. Odegaard maintained a large studio of double bass students from beginner through adult with students achieving distinction in solo/ensemble festivals, regional orchestral competitions and auditions. Since relocating to middle Tennessee David continues his successful private studio and is an active member of the International Society of Double Bassists.
As an active professional double bass and electric bassist, Mr. Odegaard performs with several orchestral, special event, and show productions. David’s past notable performances have included Arturo Sandoval, Randy Breaker, Buddy DiFranco, Jens Lindemann, the Dallas Wind Symphony, the Broadway Tenors, and the Music of Andrew Lloyd Weber, Chicago, Titanic, and Ragtime national tours.
David is currently the principle bassist of the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra, TTU Faculty Jazz Ensemble, Cumberland Swing Experience, Big Band Sound Orchestra, Revelation Christian worship, and performs with the Symphony of the Mountains, Southern Stars Symphonic Brass, and Cumberland County Playhouse orchestra.
