About
Originally from Ohio, Mrs. Hauser earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Ohio State University. She taught middle and high school band before attending the University of Georgia for a Masters degree in Woodwind Performance and to begin work on an additional Masters degree in Musicology. She has performed as a bassoonist with several orchestras including the Valdosta Symphony, the Williamsport Symphony, and the Roanoke Symphony’s production of the Nutcracker. Mrs. Hauser was one of two recipients of the inaugural General Education Award for Outstanding Teaching in Fall 2010 and in Spring 2015 she was honored with the inaugural College of Education Adjunct Faculty Award. In collaboration with professor Michael Clark, Mrs. Hauser is the author of the new Music Appreciation textbook, Exploring Music: Sound Ideas.
