Horn Studio
Welcome to the Tennessee Tech horn studio! The studio is a welcoming environment where students can all learn and grow as horn players and musicians. This course is designed to (1) teach students to develop skills fundamental to horn performance and (2) develop their own artistry as musicians and performers. In one-on-one lessons and repertoire class, students will set performance and practice goals and show their process/progress throughout the term. Music majors are also required to enroll in horn choir to accompany lessons and studio class. Horn studio is open to music majors and non-majors. Learn more information on music degrees »
How do I join the horn studio?
Prospective students are urged to arrange for a scholarship audition. Scholarships are available for music majors and non-music majors. Students wishing to audition are encouraged to schedule and audition as early in the academic years as is reasonable. Auditions are required to perform all major scales in two octaves, and two contrasting etudes or solo movements. Be sure to visit the Tennessee Tech Admissions page to apply to the university online, and to investigate the many scholarships available from Tech. Please be aware that the general academic scholarships must be applied for by December 15. Music department scholarships may be awarded throughout the year, but earlier is preferable.
