Grand Challenge News: Community Success Story
Community Spotlight: Treehouse Publishing Group in Jamestown, TN
Rural Reimagined recognizes the successful rural Tennessee business, Treehouse Publishing Group in Jamestown, for their work creating children’s books to assist and help fundraise nonprofit organizations through different books that are specific to each organization. AJ Wanegar, the founder of Treehouse Publishing Group, created this program with her daughter when the Covid-19 pandemic first struck. AJ is not new to the children’s book world, with a freelance illustrator and design career that spans three decades. AJ says, “I wanted to give back to the nonprofit organizations that do so much for our communities, animals and the planet.”
AJ works with nonprofits to bring awareness to different causes and gives a portion of the business’s proceeds to animal welfare causes. Her inspirational mission for Treehouse Publishing to support nonprofits comes from her personal history with trauma, injury, recovery and the support she’s witnessed from nonprofits and animals during those times. Regarding the success of the first book of her Paws of Honor Children’s Book series, representatives from that nonprofit state, “’How I Became a Hero: Chessie’s Story’ has allowed our nonprofit the ability to educate the public about the vital role working K9s play and how we support them while passively fundraising for our Veterinary Care Program. This book has created an avenue for the nonprofit to continuously raise much needed funds during an unprecedented pandemic for the nation’s retired K9s veterinary care.”
Rural Reimagined is excited to see this rural business continue to expand and make a difference not only within Tennessee, but within nonprofit organizations across America.
