TNTogether.com is a comprehensive plan and set of resources from the State of Tennessee to address the opioid crisis.
Each day in Tennessee, at least three people die from an opioid-related overdose, which is more than the number of daily traffic fatalities. Since 1999, the number of opioid-related overdose deaths nationwide, including prescription opioids and heroin, has quadrupled. Tennessee remains in the top 15 of all states in drug overdose deaths, and each year, more opioid prescriptions are written than there are people living in Tennessee, with more than 1 million prescriptions left over.
The Tennessee Department of Health, Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, and the Governor’s Office presented Tennessee Tech’s iCube with the opportunity to combine efforts to combat the opioid epidemic.
TN Together
TNTogether.com is a community focused approach that merges:
- Former Governor Bill Haslam’s plan to stop opioid misuse through prevention, treatment, and law enforcement.
- Movements and Initiatives already generated by established organizations.
- Ideas contributed by communities across the state.
Opioid-related resources and proactive strategies are housed under one roof allowing for easy access to up-to-date information. This interactive resource hub serves an even higher purpose of encouraging preventative involvement on both an individual and community level.
TNTogether.com's intention is to facilitate inspiring ideas that combat the opioid crisis across the state. We believe that together we will see positive changes throughout the state of Tennessee and the lives of 6,849,144 individuals!
