'Transfer Tech to You' events set for April
Tech President Phil Oldham speaks at a 2024 ‘Tech to You’ event in Knoxville, Tenn.
Tennessee Tech University is making it easier than ever for transfer students to explore
all the opportunities it has to offer, right in their hometowns. Three new “Transfer
Tech to You” events are scheduled for April in Knoxville, Cookeville and Harriman.
“Transfer Tech to You is our way of bringing Tennessee Tech directly to prospective
students, with a special focus on helping transfer students explore how to seamlessly
continue their educational journey as Golden Eagles,” said Tech’s Interim Director
of Admissions Ted McWilliams. “Our admissions counselors and university recruitment
team will be set up at community college locations in Knoxville, Cookeville and Harriman,
bringing students information about the university and how easy it is to transfer
to Tech to complete their bachelor’s degrees.”
Events are scheduled for April 8 with Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville,
April 15 with Volunteer State Community College in Cookeville and April 22 with Roane
State Community College in Harriman. Students who apply to Tech at the events will
have the $25 application fee waived and be eligible for entry to win a textbook scholarship.
Knoxville and Cookeville events run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST and CST, respectively,
while the Harriman Transfer Tech to You runs from 9 a.m. to noon EST. Prospective
students are encouraged to drop by as they are able between classes. Free refreshments
and Tech swag will be provided.

be found at www.tntech.edu/transfertechtoyou. There is no cost to attend.
McWilliams added that transfer students should apply for admission by May 1 to be
eligible for the Tech Transfer Pride scholarship.
“This scholarship is guaranteed for transfer students who have at least a 3.0 GPA
and 12-plus transferable credit hours,” said McWilliams. “All students must do is
apply by May 1 and meet the requirements to qualify. There are different award levels
ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 per year, and these scholarships are renewable for all
three years. This can be a game changer for many students in finishing that four-year
bachelor’s degree.”
