About Access to TechConnect

Access to TechConnect is determined by an individual's role (or roles) on campus. In most cases, a user is placed in either Student, Professor, or Staff/Advisor role. An individual may have one or more of the roles above depending on their position and journey (i.e., being a former student) at Tech.

By default, each role has a select set of permissions to allow for a unique experience within TechConnect while also adhering to FERPA guidelines

  • The Professor role is assigned if an individual is setup in Banner as an instructor for a course for a given term and will be able to see those students "assigned" to them based on their enrollment in the instructor's course(s).
  • The Student role is assigned if the individual is admitted and registered for a current or future term.
  • The Staff/Advisor role is assigned if an individual is setup in Banner with access to the Faculty/Advisor role. Additionally, this role will only show student information if the user is assigned to one or more students in Banner as their Academic Advisor, Faculty Mentor, Athletics Academic Advisor, Military Science Advisor, Health Sciences Career Advisor, or another relationship type.

TechConnect Faculty/Staff Access Form

Have you completed your Banner & Eagle Online Authorization Requests?


Eagle Online (Banner SSB) advisor access requests must be submitted through the ITS Self-Service Portal via TechExpress.
To access this form, login to your TechExpress account and locate the SelfServ Portal within your QuickLinks. Open the portal and search for "Banner Access Information". Complete the "Banner Faculty/Advisor SSB Access Form". Only select Advisor and include details regarding role and access request in the Comments section. All requests are subject to approval.
