Do I have to start the program in the Fall Semester?
We accept new students in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
How does transfer credit work?
As many as 9 semester hours may be transferred in from other AACSB accredited schools.
Credit will not be allowed for courses taken more than five years prior to application
to Tennessee Tech.
I have management experience, do I still need to take the GMAT or GRE?
Perhaps not. Our admissions matrix includes professional work experience in assessing
a candidate's eligibility for admission.
I have a graduate degree, do I still need to take the GMAT or GRE?
Perhaps not. Our admissions matrix includes graduate education in assessing a candidate's
eligibility for admission.
I took the GMAT/GRE several years ago, do I have to take it again?
We require an "official" copy of your GMAT or GRE scores to consider you for admission
to the MBA program at Tennessee Tech. Both the GMAT and GRE only keeps those scores
on file for five years. After that time, they purge their files and you will be unable
to get an "official" copy of your scores from them. If however, we have an "official"
copy of your scores on file here at Tennessee Tech (perhaps from an earlier application),
we can use those old scores.
How does the online MBA work?
The class interaction is accomplished by use of an internet-based class management
program called iLearn (powered by Desire2Learn). You simply log onto our website (http://ilearn.tntech.edu) using your assigned username and password, and you are taken to a page with all
of the information about the courses that you are taking. For each course in which
you are registered, there will be a link. On the webpage for each course, there will
be tools for activities such as course email, threaded discussions for course case
studies, links to online quizzes and exams, a course calendar, and course chat rooms.
In addition, there are links to course content areas that contain PowerPoint presentations
that you can download or print, documents that your instructor might want you to read,
and assignments.
What will my diploma look like?
The campus-based and online programs earn the same degree. The diploma will not indicate
that you have taken online courses. You will have the same courses, the same professors,
and the same diploma as campus-based students. Concentrations are not listed on your
diploma, but are noted on your transcript.
Can I get Financial Aid for the online MBA?
Please direct financial aid questions to the Financial Aid office. Generally, online MBA courses do qualify for financial aid, though you will need
to take a minimum of six credit hours of course-work a semester in order to qualify.
I work for the state of Tennessee, will the state cover my tuition?
The state will cover the cost of in-state tuition for State of Tennessee Employees.
However, the differential of the cost between campus-based and online courses is not
currently covered by the state reimbursement plan.
