Mission and Program/Learning Outcomes
The mission of the Department of Earth Sciences is threefold:
- To provide a robust undergraduate learning and research experience for
geoscience students. - To demonstrate the importance of the geosciences to society.
- To promote faculty research, scholarly activity and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Student-learning outcomes
- Graduates will demonstrate proficiency in communication and critical thinking.
- Graduates will demonstrate sufficient knowledge that allows them to be competitive in the geoscience workforce and/or pursue a graduate degree.
- Graduates will develop the ability to independently develop, conduct and complete a novel research project.
