UT Transfer Credit
TU General Education Credit for Courses Transferred from the UT System (UT-Knoxville, UT-Chattanooga, and UT-Martin)
-
Students who have completed all General Education requirements on a UT-system campus will be considered to have completed all General Education Requirements at Tennessee Tech, with two exceptions:
-
Any of these students (except those majoring in Engineering) who have not completed either one year of high-school U.S. History or two semesters of college-level U.S. History will, by state law, be required to complete that requirement before graduation from Tennessee Tech.
-
These students must take any Tennessee Tech General Education courses that are required for progression in their major programs.
-
-
Students who have not completed all General Education requirements on a UT-system campus, but who have taken one or more courses in the General Education program there, will be given Tennessee Tech General Education credit as follows:
-
Courses and General Education categories that are clearly equivalent* to their Tennessee Tech counterparts will be treated by Records as Tennessee Tech courses and categories, and given the appropriate credit.
-
Courses that are clearly equivalent* to Tennessee Tech General Education courses, but whose General Education categories are not matched at Tennessee Tech, will be assigned appropriate Tennessee Tech categories by Records, after consultation with the Tennessee Tech General Education Committee chairperson, and given the appropriate credit.
-
Courses that are not clearly equivalent* to Tennessee Tech General Education courses, but which fulfill General Education requirements on the UT campus, will be assigned the appropriate Tennessee Tech category by Records, after consultation with the Tennessee Tech General Education Committee chairperson, and given the appropriate credit.
-
-
Courses that are not taken for General Education credit on a UT-system campus can be given Tennessee Tech General Education credit only through use of the established "Undergraduate Course Substitution Form."
