Interdisciplinary research in the Carrick group is focused on three distinct, but complementary student-training areas:  1) Separation science leveraging organic synthesis for minor actinide extraction from simulated high-level waste, 2) Development of synthetic methods for the construction of functionalized heteroaryl synthons for use in separations, and 3) The total synthesis of biologically relevant natural products.  Our lab routinely uses analytical, inorganic, and organic chemistry principles, in concert with modern spectroscopic tools, to work towards solutions to real world problems in science and welcomes students from all backgrounds.
