Andrea Sanders Brackett Honored as 2024 College of Engineering Computer Scientist of Distinction by Tennessee Tech
Cookeville, TN – Andrea Sanders Brackett, a 1993 graduate of Tennessee Tech University’s College of Engineering, has been awarded the 2024 Computer Scientist of Distinction Award by her alma mater. Recognized for her exceptional career and lasting contributions to the field of technology, Brackett recently retired as vice president and chief information security officer at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where she led the enterprise-wide cybersecurity program.
With more than 30 years of experience in information technology, including at least 15 years dedicated to cybersecurity and information assurance, Brackett has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and expertise. Her career highlights include spearheading TVA’s cybersecurity initiatives and attaining industry certifications, such as the ISC² Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Certified Authorization Professional. Additionally, she completed advanced leadership training at Vanderbilt University’s prestigious Owens School of Management.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Brackett remains an active advocate for the next generation of engineers and computer scientists. She currently serves on Tennessee Tech’s Executive Advisory Board for computer science and is a board member of the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, where she is deeply engaged in community service and mentorship efforts.
The Computer Scientist of Distinction Award is presented annually by Tennessee Tech’s College of Engineering to honor alumni who have achieved remarkable success in the field of computer science.
