Six new faculty join engineering and computer science

The College of Engineering welcomed six new faculty in Fall 2024 as it continues to grow its research profile and academic programs and serve dramatic increases in enrollment over the last five years. 

 

Ian Morrell, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering 

Research Areas and Interests: Timber engineering, mass timber structures, timber connections, timber lateral-force resisting systems, biodeterioration and moisture effects on timber structures, timber-concrete composite floors

Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science 

Research Areas and Interests: Theoretical computer science, graph algorithms, streaming and sublinear algorithms, interactive proof systems, dynamic graph algorithms, communication complexity

Director, Nuclear Engineering 

Research Areas and Interests:  Space nuclear technologies, computational methods of reactor analysis, nuclear reactor design, nuclear materials, high temperature moderators, neutron imaging, additive manufacturing, public policy and outreach
