NASA Human Exploration Rover (Formerly NASA MoonBuggy's Club) Activities
The Tennessee Tech Moonbuggy's team was started in the fall semester of 1999. The goal of the team is to design, build and race a simulated lunar roving vehicle in the annual Great Moonbuggy Race at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The race was inspired by the development of the first lunar roving vehicle, which was designed and tested at Marshall Space Flight Center. The event challenges students to design and build a human-powered vehicle to address engineering problems similar to those actually faced by the original NASA lunar rover team.
