You can also check the central Lost and Found for the university, located in the Roaden University Center at the Information Center. To file a police report for stolen property, contact University Police.
Inclement Weather

Emergency Phones
Emergency phones are installed throughout campus as a direct line to University Police.
These phones can
be identified by a dull blue light and are activated by pressing the button, whether
a person speaks or not. Once the button is activated, a police officer is immediately
dispatched to the scene.
Emergency Response Plan
We are committed to protecting the health and safety of all students, employees and visitors at all university facilities. When an emergency occurs, university personnel will immediately activate an organized response. Alarm systems in all campus buildings are equipped with a public address system that is used to communicate information in the event of an emergency. Notification emails are sent to campus email accounts and texts are also sent via TTUAlert (www.tntech.edu/ttualert) to all students and any employee who has opted into the TTUAlert system. Additionally, the university’s website homepage will be updated to include a notification banner detailing the emergency situation.
In the event of severe weather, three tornado sirens are located strategically throughout campus, and shelter areas have been designated in each building.
Policies
Student Conduct
Tennessee Tech’s expectations for student conduct are outlined in the Student Conduct policy. The policy also details student due process rights, disciplinary procedures and possible sanctions resulting from violations of the standards of conduct. It is important that students read and understand this policy which may be accessed via the Student Handbook or the Dean of Students website.

Students are subject to this policy and to applicable federal, state and local laws related to this matter.
Tennessee Tech University is a smoke-free campus. Smoking, including the use of electronic nicotine and non-nicotine delivery systems (E-Cigs, vape pens, etc.), is not permitted on Tennessee Tech property, Tech-affiliated off-campus locations and facilities and all Tech-owned vehicles. In accordance with Tennessee law, students under 21 years of age may not possess tobacco, smoking hemp or vapor products. Any student found in violation of these policies will result in disciplinary actions.

Parental Notification Policy
Consistent with Tennessee state law, Tennessee Tech will notify the parent or legal guardian of students under 21 years of age who are found to have violated the alcohol or drug policies of the institution.
Tennessee Tech is required to notify a parent of a student under age 21 if the student “has committed a disciplinary violation” with respect to the use or possession of alcohol or a controlled substance that is a violation of any federal, state or local law, or any rule or policy of the University, except as prohibited by the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Notifications will be made when 1) The student admits responsibility for engaging in the prohibited conduct; or 2) There is a final finding of responsibility pursuant to the disciplinary procedures. Whenever possible, the student will be informed in advance that their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) will be notified. Students will be offered the opportunity to contact their parents before the university does. Such direct contact is encouraged.
Student Complaint Policy
The Student Compliant Policy (policy 301)
is in place to ensure that concerns and complaints of undergraduate and graduate students
are addressed fairly and resolved promptly. The policy is based on the principle of
respect for all members of the Tennessee Tech community and the goal of a successful
educational experience for all students. Complaints covered under this policy may
stem from behavior or conditions that students feel are unjust, inequitable or create
hardships and that are not being governed by other Tennessee Tech complaint, grievance
or appeal procedures. To make a complaint not specifically covered by a procedure
already in place, please visit www.tntech.edu/dos.
