iLearn: Daylight Upgrade

Daylight is a new feature that updates the look of iLearn slightly. We have worked over the past year to make small changes that have led to this change. What exactly changed when Daylight is fully implemented?

The look and feel has changed

• It removed the outline of the widget boxes.
• It changed the top minibar, the purple bar are gone and the icons are larger.
• Fonts are slightly different, but you can choose a font size in your Account Settings.

 

All Navigation Bars are now set to the Default NavBar

We set all navigation bars to the default style before Daylight was enabled. We did this on Monday, May 29th, 2017.

Most courses already use the default, but some were using custom NavBars. The custom ones were changed to the default.

Editing NavBars is now Different

You are now able to add and remove tools by just turning them on and off.

In the course you would like to edit,

1. Go to Course Management - Course Admin
2. Select Tools at the bottom
3. Turn the tools on and off as you wish using the toggle switch.

Courses may not be visible in My Courses when you login

If you have never used the pinning option in the drop-down menu in the minibar, you may not see any courses listed by default. You can either choose the View All Courses link or you can choose the 9 block icon at the top of the screen and search to PIN your classes. Below are two ways to PIN the classes to your My Home.

 

Pinning Courses

There are two ways to pin your classes.

1. Select the drop-down list from the minibar (or once in Daylight the 9 block icon at the top)
2. Search for the course in the list or by typing in the Search box. You can do this by course title, number or the easiest way would be to enter the semester you would like to pin. 
   
   1. The semester code goes YYYYSS. For example: 201780 is Fall 2017. 201710 is for Spring 2017. 201750 is for Summer 2017. The 80=August/Fall, the 10=January/Spring, the 50=May/Summer. This does not change, only the year.
3. Select the Pin icon to the right.
   
   
   

OR...

1. Select the View All Courses link in the My Courses area.
2. Find the course you want to pin. You can use the Search option and you can do this by course title, number or the easiest way would be to enter the semester you would like to pin.

3. When you put the cursor over the image, select the 3 dot icon on the picture and choose Pin from the menu.
   
   

Courses are Associated with Image Tiles

Changing the Course Image

The original image file associated with your course was randomly assigned. You can choose to change this image. You can select from the images in iLearn or Upload your own.

To choose a new image from the iLearn library

1. Select the 3 dot icon on the image
2. Choose Change Image
   
   
3. If you use an image from D2L, just put your mouse on the image and click Use this Image.

If you want to Upload your own,

1. Select Upload
2. Under Course Image, select Browse – My Computer – Upload and select the file
3. Click Open then click Add
4. Click Save
