Internship Opportunities
- » Archive Internship
- Duration: 1 year
- Earnings: $10 an hour
- Status: Open
Applications can be submitted at any time, but will be reviewed when the current intern rolls off and the position is available. There are two positions. - Requirements: Students must submit a letter of intent to matkinson@tntech.edu. The letter must include:
- Introduction
- Overview of interests
- Summary of experience and qualifications
- Career goals
- One faculty reference
- Schedule: 10 hrs/wk
The position requires a regular, weekly schedule worked out between the student and the University Archivist. - Job Responsibilities:
- Performing preservation on records
- Participating in daily archives management tasks
- Processing a small archival collection to create a finding aid
- Selecting, appraising, digitizing, and describing materials for a digital collection’s management software
- Responding to reference questions
- Some readings and lessons required
- » Internship for Course Credit
- Duration: 1 semester/summer
- Earnings: 3 credit hours
- Status: Open (spring semester, fall semester, summer)
- Requirements:
10-15 hours a week and may require some coursework depending on the student’s degree program requirements. The position requires a regular, weekly schedule worked out between the student and the University Archivist. - Description:
Degree programs offer internships for credit. The University Archivist and the student’s advisor can coordinate an internship with your degree program. These are by availability only and subject to approval of the University Archivist and your advisor/degree program. - Job Responsibilities:

- » Creative Inquiry Summer Experience
- Duration: Summer
- Earnings: Grants are for a maximum $3,500 stipend
- Status: Open (applications due in March)
- Requirements: See the CISE Grant Program
- Description: This program provides paid summer internships for undergraduate students developing research and creative inquiry skills. Projects need approval from the University Archivist and approval from the CISE granting board. The grant requires a presentation of the work performed.
