The Comprehensive/Interventionist (K-12) concentration in the Special Education major addresses the best ways to educate and improve the life-experiences of children, youth, and adults with a range of challenges (learning, cognitive, behavioral, emotional, physical) and, also special gifts.
Our curriculum provides a strong foundation of teaching skills, access to the latest in educational strategies, and instructional theory. Students are further prepared with the broad subject knowledge (reading, math, science, and social studies) to teach learners of all ages. Students in licensure programs engage in extensive clinical experiences in public schools for hands-on training, professional collaboration, and classroom management.
The college offers a wealth of educational resources from the VISION Virtual Learning Lab, the Jeffers Learning Resources Center, to the Millard Oakley STEM Center.
