Award-winning McAllister and Ames duo to perform at Tech

Tennessee Tech University's Center Stage will host Grammy Award-winning saxophonist
Timothy McAllister and pianist Liz Ames in a music recital on Feb. 21 in Wattenbarger
Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. The duo has been performing together since 2012.
McAllister began his career with a solo performance at the age of 16 with the Houston
Civic Symphony. He has traveled through the United States, Australia, Russia, Canada,
Japan, China, Mexico, France, Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland, Great Britain, the Netherlands,
Belgium, and Austria. During his travels he received numerous prizes from both national
and international competitions. He has premiered 200 works of prestigious composers
and holds the title of soprano chair for the PRISM Quartet. McAllister holds degrees
from the University of Michigan where he is professor of saxophone in the School of
Music.
Ames is a well-known collaborative pianist whose international performances include
the UK, Spain, Scotland, Strasbourg and Peru. Although Ames specializes in saxophone
literature, she does not limit herself, she pursues projects with many instrumentalists
and vocalists. Following her work as a pianist, Ames is also passionate about creating
piano reductions and has written several published reductions.
Admission to Center Stage events is free, unless otherwise noted. The events are paid
for by student fees and open to the public with priority seating given to students.
