The Education Digital Marketing awards recognize the best digital education marketing within 36 award categories. Tech’s OCM programs and content competed against the best in the country. A national panel of industry specialists reviewed each piece, judging creativity, marketing execution, message impact, technology application and innovation content.

“As creative professionals, it’s always exciting to see our work recognized and celebrated. We have a dedicated and talented team in the Office of Communications and Marketing that extends from the leaders who offer strategic direction for our work; to the designers, writers and content specialists who put all the pieces together; all the way to the student interns we get to work with on our social media content,” said Bailey Phonsnasinh, director of Brand Communications. “Being honored by the Education Digital Marketing Awards among larger universities speaks to the level of talent on our team.”

The OCM won Gold in the Digital Publications Campaign category with “College Town Weekends” promotion. This program showcases both on-campus and off-campus events on a single list so students can easily find weekend activities of interest. Students are encouraged to make the most of all that Tech and the surrounding community have to offer.

They won Bronze in the Digital Publication Single category with its “Tennessee Tech Viewbook.” The viewbook was a bright colorful booklet with pictures that informed potential students of all that Tech has to offer.  It showcased the numerous and diverse opportunities available at the university.

The “What’s Your Major?” earned Silver in the Social Media Content Campaign category. This campaign highlights different majors in all the colleges to show what it is like to be in that major from a student perspective.

“It’s an authentic view of academics, organizations, clubs and campus life in that major,” said Jamie Fancher, content coordinator.

In the Digital Special Video: Under two minutes category, OCM’s team won Silver for their “Baja at Tennessee Tech Endurance Race Day Highlight of the Day Video.”

Baja teams from around the world gathered at Tennessee Tech University’s Hyder-Burks Agricultural Pavilion to compete in the Society of Automotive Engineers Collegiate Design Series competition that was held from May 12-15. Three different countries, the United States, Canada, and Mexico, had representation in the 85 teams who participated.

The “Baja Behind the Scenes 2022 Video” earned that same team Merit in the Digital Special Video: Over two minutes category.

“It's a great honor to win these awards. It was an awesome experience to highlight what goes on in the Baja events at Hyder-Burks Agricultural Pavilion,” said Rick Wells, interactive marketing director.

Tech’s OCM team leads the effort in strategic planning, creating, and implementing the university's marketing, publications, media relations, photo and video services, public relations, social media assistance and website management. They support the communication and marketing needs for campus and community.
