Duffy has been performing since he was 5-years-old, when his father, jazz bassist Chubby Jackson, gave him his first set of drums.
Duffy Jackson has performed on numerous TV shows; toured with musicians such as Lena Horne; recorded extensively and performed with such jazz musicians as Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Eckstine, Stan Getz, Buddy Rich and Harry "Sweets" Edison.
Jackson is also an educator, teaching at the University of Miami, Youngstown University, Valdosta State College and Florida Atlantic University. He has served as guest artist and educator for the Collegiate Band Program at Walt Disney World, he conducts rhythm section and improvisational workshops for elementary, high school and college students and he frequently holds master classes for working drummers.
On Tuesday, Feb. 21, Duffy Jackson will host a master class for Tennessee Tech students.
The concert is sponsored by Tech s Center Stage, which is made possible by the university s general fund. The concert and the master class session are free and open to the public.
