The program features works for solo trumpet and chamber brass music. Decker will share the stage with music faculty and trumpet students.

Two premieres for brass quintet will be featured, including emeritus music professor and composer Robert Jager s newest composition, Retirement Rag along with Brass Arts Quintet tubist Jesse Chavez s work Mr. Professional.

The program opens with the virtuoso showpiece Impromptu by French composer Jacques Ibert and continues with Heroic Music by Georg Telemann where Decker will perform with senior trumpet majors.

Other solos include the post-Civil War era Concertino for E-flat cornet by Ernst Sachse and the pop trumpet solo Magic Trumpet by Jimmy Burke.

TTU faculty Brass Arts Quintet colleagues Chris McCormick, trumpet; Greg Danner, horn; Joshua Hauser, trombone; and Jesse Chavez, tuba will join Decker to perform three works including Portrait of a Trumpet by legendary jazz arranger Sammy Nestico.

To close the program, Decker will join 14 trumpet majors in a display of trumpet virtuosity to perform the Leroy Anderson s popular trumpet trio Buglers Holiday.

It is a pleasure to share the stage with so many fine faculty and student musicians, said Decker. I can t wait to perform such a mixture of music from baroque masterpieces to American jazz.

The concert continues the Tennessee Tech Trumpet Festival 2015-16 Concert Series of 18 solo and ensemble concerts by faculty and students.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Bryan Fine Arts Building s Wattenbarger Auditorium, 1150 N. Dixie Ave. It is free and open to the public.
