Nursing Career Track

About

Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their families.

Nurses assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. Licensing or registration required.

While pursuing a bachelor's degree at Tennessee Tech, students will follow career-focused coursework and engage in related co-curricular activities to prepare for a career within nursing.

About Tech's Whitson-Hester School of Nursing:

The Whitson-Hester School of Nursing at Tennessee Tech offers a four-year program of study leading to a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN). Graduates from the BSN program are eligible to sit for the NCLEX exam and become Registered Nurses. The School of Nursing also has an Accelerated 2nd-Degree program for individuals with Baccalaureate degrees in fields other than Nursing and an online RN-BSN program for individuals with an ASN in Nursing.

The school of Nursing also offers Masters (MSN) degrees and Post-Masters certificates in Nursing through our partnership with TN eCampus and through the Tennessee Tech independent MSN program.  Tennessee Tech offers DNP programs jointly with ETSU.

Our programs are highly ranked and respected within the state and the Southeast with our students obtaining one of the highest pass rates on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) annually (97% in 2022). RNCareers.org ranks our program top 5 within the state of Tennessee and 86 nationally (RNCareers.org - Tennessee Tech).
