Governance

Project Governance is the set of rules, procedures and policies that determine how projects are managed and overseen. These rules and procedures define how decisions are made during projects. As part of the oversight process, project governance also determines the metrics by which project success is measured. These concepts are applied to the Tennessee Tech initiative by select Tennessee Tech staff. This is accomplished by using executive sponsors, a steering committee, lead project manager, stakeholders and various functional teams.

Impacts

Tennessee Tech’s Impact on Human Resources activities and the Tech campus community:

  • Real-time data: Talon will allow everyone to get their HR and financial data in real-time; no more waiting for reports to be updated.

  • Role-driven access: Security and access to the HR and financial systems will be driven by the position (not the person); this means employees will get the access they need the day they are seated in the role!

  • Employee self-service: Employees will use Tennessee Tech to access pay slips, W2 forms, and review personal profile information.

Business & Finance

The Talon Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system will replace our current system. This new cloud-based integration solution is designed to improve finance and supply chain operations. ERP covers finance functionality such as chart-of-accounts,  procurement, budget controls, grants management and travel and expenses. In addition, supply chain functionalities will include enhanced work order management and inventory tracking. As a cloud-based system, frequent updates are made to take advantage of ever-changing technology standards and business processes. These updates will allow greater efficiency in day-to-day finance operations.
