  • Short Story
    • First Prize: $400
    • Second Prize: $100
  • Narrative Essay
    • First Prize: $400
    • Second Prize: $100

 

Guidelines

  • Open to all part-time or full-time undergraduate Tennessee Tech students enrolled during the current academic year.
  • One entry per person, one category only.
  • Submit a portfolio of work, 20 pages maximum, titled with the title of one story/essay and the phrase "and other stories" or "essays." Double space, and use 12-point font.
  • Work may be submitted electronically to Dr. Erin Hoover or dropped off in hard copy format at Henderson Hall 320.  Printed submissions should be placed in a sturdy folder (not a ring-binder). Regardless of submission format, include a cover page with the submission title / applicant’s full name / current mailing address / telephone number / email address / academic major / year in school / T number.
  • Entries will not be returned. Also, unless otherwise directed by the author, judges will submit all entries for possible inclusion in Tennessee Tech's student literary magazine, the Iris Review.
  • Please note, student prize winnings and scholarship awards are paid directly into students' accounts. If the accounts are up to date and in good standing, these funds are then paid directly to the student.

 

Deadline

Entries must be received by email or in the English Department, Henderson Hall 320, no later than Friday, March 22, 2024 by 4:00 p.m.
