Learning a Language with Us
Language Courses
At Tennessee Tech, we use the most recent language learning methods to guide you towards being an independent language speaker ready to lead in a globalized workforce. We focus on using languages in real situations of oral or written communication.
We also make language learning fun in interactive ways that expand your speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills.
Some of our courses don’t use textbooks (which means you save money!), and our classrooms
are safe space to practice and make errors, since that’s how you make progress.
Culture Courses
Our culture courses cover a broad range of content. The 2000-level courses are taught
in English and even count toward general education credits. The upper division culture
courses are taught in the target language and count toward a major in your chosen
language. In all of our culture courses, you learn more about the people and places
related to your language of study while also strengthening your language skills.
Make it official!
We invite you to learn a language with us! It will be an asset for your career, and it’s easy to major or double major in a language, even if your other major is in STEM! We also offer minors in Spanish, French, and German to give you an edge on the job market.
Tennessee Tech foreign languages has allowed me to connect with like-minded students and staff! The wide variety of backgrounds mixed with the unique and engaging teaching methods allows for students to succeed! I have enjoyed learning about new cultures and languages through this program!
