October 28 - November 2, 2024
Get ready to celebrate 100 Years of Golden Eagles. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community are welcome to celebrate Tech's homecoming and watch the Golden Eagles play. A parade going from Dixie Avenue and throughout campus includes local high school marching bands, community organizations, Tech student organizations and the homecoming court. Various college and organization reunions take place and a new and Mr. and Ms. Tennessee Tech are crowned.
The Homecoming schedule, competition packets, and Mr. & Ms. information will be available in August.

For 2024, Student organization and residence halls will compete in three divisions:
- Gold Division - Up to 3 organizations representing a total of no more than 250 members may combine to participate in the Gold Division
- Purple – Up to 3 organizations representing a total of no more than 50 members may combine to participate in the Purple Division. Organizations with more than 50 members may request eligibility for the Purple Division with advisor support by emailing engagement@tntech.edu.
- Residence Hall Division – Resident Hall units as determined by Housing & Residential Life may participates in the Res Hall Division. Housing & Residential will determine and communicate participation rules.

Float Division — Competition for organizations that build a float. Note: a float information sheet must be submitted. Trophies will be awarded during the Homecoming football game.
Pride Division — Competition for recognition. The winner will receive the TN Tech Pride Award. This division should include participants from the University or the Cookeville community who do not build a float. Examples of Pride Entries include cars, trailers, walkers, vans, horses, etc.
Parade Instructions:
- The parade line up will begin in the Towne Plaza parking lot (Gabe’s on Jefferson Avenue). Please have your entries ready to be lined up between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM.
- Please park as far away from the front of the stores in the shopping center as you can. We want to minimize the disturbance to the stores and shoppers.
- Entries must remain 25-30 feet apart throughout the parade.
- Entries should stop at the judges' reviewing stand for a maximum of 20 seconds. If entries do not stop in front of the reviewing stand, the judges will not score them. Judges will view entries from the driver's side of the vehicle.
- A member of the sponsoring organization must remain with the entry at all times.
- All parade entries will turn from Dixie Avenue onto B Street.
Floats will be directed to the parking area behind the scoreboard. Floats must remain parked until the conclusion of the Homecoming game. Do not remove floats from Stadium Drive until the football game is completed and attendees have dispersed.
All other entries will proceed past the Float parking area and disperse. Trailers carrying individuals should stop on campus and unload all individuals before leaving campus. - ALL OTHER ENTRIES: Disperse after turning left onto B Street.
- All floats and decorations must be disassembled and properly disposed of by Sunday, November 3, 2024.

- Homecoming Parade Route
The homecoming parade route begins in the Towne Plaza parking lot, at the base of S. Dixie Ave, then heads north up S. Dixie Ave. The route then turns left on B Street. The parade disperses at B Street, and float drop off is behind the stadium scoreboard.

Mr. and Ms. Tennessee Tech Candidates
- » Eligibility
Candidates must have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA and 60 hours of earned college credit (Junior Status) to run. Candidates must be full-time students of Tennessee Technological University at the time of the election on October 29th in order to be qualified to run. Candidates must be nominated and sponsored by a student organization registered with Student Engagement or an Intercollegiate Athletics team. An organization or team may only sponsor one candidate. Candidates may not be currently sitting members of the SGA Executive Council or the Commission for Elections.
- » Candidate Information Session
The official Mr. & Ms. Tennessee Tech University Candidate Information Session will be Thursday, October 8, at 11:00 AM in RUC 246. Candidates must be present or have a representative present during the Information Session. If unable to attend, email sgasecretary@tntech.edu with a valid excuse at least 24 hours in advance. Candidates must specify whether a representative will be in their place or if they will be in attendance for the make-up session.
There will be a make-up information session on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, in RUC 371 at 6:00 PM. Representatives are not allowed to attend in place of a candidate during the make-up session.
- » Election Day
All qualified applicants will be placed on the ballot. Voting will be conducted online on Tuesday, October 29th, from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. The Commission for Elections shall announce the Homecoming Court members immediately following the certification by posting outside the SGA office.
- » Mr. and Ms. Tennessee Tech Ceremony Rehearsal
The Homecoming Court attendees will participate in a mandatory half-time ceremony rehearsal with the Golden Eagle Marching Band on Friday, November 1, at 4 PM on the football field at Tucker Stadium.
- » Announcement of Results
The public announcement of the 2024 Mr. & Ms. Tennessee Tech University will be made during halftime of the Homecoming football game in Tucker Stadium on Saturday, November 2.
Attire: Mr. & Ms. Tennessee Tech University candidates are encouraged to wear Sunday best or formal attire incorporating TN Tech spirit. Please note that the weather is usually cold.
Presentation: The 2024 Mr. & Ms. Tennessee Tech University candidates will be presented by the Tennessee Tech University President, First Lady, and the Student Government Association President. - » Application Submission
Candidates must submit their application before Monday, October 7 at 11:59 PM. Candidates will provide the following information or materials via their application:
- Acknowledgement of the Election Rules.
- A hi-resolution photo upload to be used for display purposes (preferably a headshot).
- A resume outlining their campus and community involvement.
The resume will not affect voting or your candidacy but will be used for your profile on the website and our social media accounts if elected to the court.
