Fall 2024 Reporting of LDAs Letter from the Registrar
Tuesday, August 27, 2024
Dear Faculty,
Welcome to the 2024 Fall Semester. We acknowledge your significant role in ensuring our academic activities' seamless operation. We want to provide essential guidelines regarding reporting students who fail to attend or discontinue attending your course during the Fall Semester.
Attendance, completion of coursework, and adherence to scheduled examinations are imperative for student success. In the event a student ceases to attend or never attends your course, it is essential to promptly report the student's Last Date Attended to ensure compliance with Federal Financial Aid Regulations.
Any student who has never attended your course must be reported before the 14th day of class, September 4, 2024. Students under this category will receive an 'NF' grade at the term's conclusion, with a Last Date Attended (LDA) of August 22, 2024. An 'NF' grade denotes non-attendance. Similarly, students who stop attending your course after the 14th day will receive an 'FA' grade, indicating failure due to attendance, and will require a last-known date of attendance (LDA).
In addition, we ask you to continue reporting on all students who stop attending your course at any point throughout the semester. To report a student who stopped attending your course after the 14th day, please indicate the student 'Stopped Attending' on the 'Attendance Reporting' link in Eagle Online. Please remember that any student who has stopped attending your course will still need an appropriate grade to be entered at the end of the term unless they officially withdraw from the university.
To report a student who has never attended your course, please follow the same process but indicate 'Never Attended' instead. ALL students who stop attending a course will receive an 'FA' grade and WILL require a last-known date of attendance (LDA). It is necessary to indicate the last known date of attendance (LDA) when assigning final grades of NF or FA.
Neglecting to report attendance information may result in federal compliance issues and hinder the identification of student success concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions
- » How do I determine the student's LDA?
There are several ways to determine a student's LDA. Participation is the relevant factor. For example, logging onto iLearn (D2L) alone is not sufficient. Here are some approved examples:
- Physically attending a class where instruction was offered.
- Submitting an academic assignment.
- Taking an exam, completing an interactive tutorial, or participating in computer-assisted instruction.
- Attending a study group that the school assigns.
- Participating in an online discussion about academic matters.
- Initiating contact with a faculty member to ask a question about the academic subject studied in the course.
- » What if a student never attended my class but is still on my grade roster?
Students who never attended or participated in your class will be assigned a grade of "NF" and will need the "Never Attended" box checked on the grade roster.
- » Why doesn't Eagle Online (SSB) accept my LDA?
LDA must be entered in this format: MM/DD/YYYY.
LDA must be between the first day of your course and the last day of your course. - » Do I need to record LDA for all grades?
No, you must record the LDA only for NF and FA grades.
We appreciate your attention to these reporting requirements, which are essential for ensuring the integrity of our academic processes.
Please don't hesitate to contact our office with any questions or concerns.
