Colored, fax, slick, computer, and notebook paper are all acceptable. Post-its, envelopes with windows or labels, junk mail, Manila folders, colored tabs, index cards, newspapers, magazines, and catalogs can also be recycled. Corrugated and non-corrugated cardboard, brown packing paper, and brown paper bags are acceptable in the campus recycling program. Cardboard products are to be placed in the recycling-specific dumpsters. If you have any questions about where to find these, please e-mail us. *Please do NOT put cardboard in the paper recycling.* |

Plastics 1 & 2 are currently accepted following the Putnam County recycling program. Plastics 1 & 2 includes: drink bottles/ cups, milk jugs, hair care bottles, soap containers, and non-hazardous cleaner bottles. There are also many receptacles around the Plaza and the RUC. *Please do NOT put Styrofoam in recycling.* |
|
Any aluminum product should be placed in the green bins located in academic, administrative, and residential halls. Like the plastic products, many aluminum receptacles can be found on the Plaza and around the RUC. |

Anyone needing to dispose of used ink cartridges can place a Work Order for them to be picked up. They will then be taken to Mustard Seed Ranch so the children there can get credit for discounts off of their school supplies. |

- Academic Buildings
Recycling bins in each academic building are typically located around the main entrances. Many have recycling containers in the copy/mail rooms, computer labs and student lounges.
If you are not sure when your building is scheduled for pick-up, please call (931) 372-3021 or e-mail ttugreen@tntech.edu.
- Residential Halls
Each room is equipped with a personal recycling bin marked by the Sustainable Campus Committee logo.
If residents wish for their recycling to be picked up, they must place it in the appropriate receptacles located in the Hall lobby. Each lobby contains paper and aluminum bins. Cardboard should be placed in the recycling dumpsters located on campus. Plastics are no longer considered recyclable in Putnam County.
As residents are moving in and out, they may request service for disposal of larger items. If you have any questions, call the Office of Sustainability at (931) 372-3021 or e-mail us at ttugreen@tntech.edu.
- General
Many more recycling receptacles can be found around Centennial Plaza and the RUC. Volpe Library is also provided with bins. All bins, dumpsters and receptacles are emptied by Facilities on a regular schedule.
If any bins are overflowing, and need to be emptied before they're scheduled, a Work Order must be submitted. If you are not sure when your building is scheduled for pick-up, please call (931) 372-3021 or e-mail ttugreen@tntech.edu. If you have any questions not answered in the Recycling FAQ's tab or on this page, please feel free to contact us.
