Undergraduate Programs

Tennessee Tech's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department offers two solid undergraduate programs that emphasize the fundamentals of electrical and computer engineering and enable graduates to enter the workforce with confidence. Programs are offered which lead to Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Engineering (B.S.Cmp.E.) and in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.). The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission(s) of ABET, under the general criteria and the program criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s), and Similarly Named Engineering Programs. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission(s) of ABET, under the general criteria and the program criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s), and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.

*NEW* Within the computer engineering program there is an optional concentration in Hardware and System Security (B.S.Cmp.E. - Hardware and System Security Concentration).

Within the electrical engineering program there are two optional concentrations, Mechatronics Concentration in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E. - Mechatronics Concentration) and Vehicle Engineering Concentration in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E. - Vehicle Engineering Concentration).

With about 400 undergraduate students, the department is one of the largest in the College of Engineering. Undergraduate program enrollment and graduation data are shown below. All 16 faculty members hold doctorates, and one has a joint appointment in one of three Centers of Excellence. These centers have brought the university international recognition and provide unique opportunities for electrical and computer engineering undergraduates to participate in center-related projects.

Students from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering are known throughout the Southeast for their enthusiastic participation in professional organizations and events. The student chapter of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) offers a multitude of activities, social and professional, and successfully competes with other universities in the professional and technical contests offered through the IEEE Southeastern Conference held each year. Officers in the IEEE student chapter and Eta Kappa Nu, an honor society for electrical engineering students, develop leadership and communication skills invaluable in today's job market. The department takes pride in producing well-rounded, professionally competent graduates.

The Tennessee Tech BSEE and BSCmpE programs are guided by a set of Program Objectives and Student Outcomes which specify the overall goals of the program and the specific knowledge and abilities students will have obtained by the time of graduation.
