Accommodations

Only the AEC can officially grant TN Tech students accommodations, including those for students' exams. Then, you decide where to offer that accommodated exam, whether it's in your regular classroom, your office, your departmental office, the AEC, or TLC Testing.

If you're considering using TLC Testing for accommodated exams, we can proctor exams with the accommodations listed below. If your students need an accommodation not listed below, we cannot proctor the exam. Remember, it is never mandatory for you to use TLC Testing to proctor your exams.

  • Access to medical device
  • Area where student can sit, stand, or walk
  • Calculator (as specified by you during exam submission in RegisterBlast)
  • Class notes (as specified by you during exam submission in RegisterBlast)
  • Extended time*
  • Formula sheet (as specified by you during exam submission in RegisterBlast)
  • Increased font size (provided by you when you submit the paper exam in RegisterBlast or when you create the exam in iLearn)
  • JAWS screen reader
  • Kurzweil (students need login info from the AEC)
  • Noise-reduction
  • Private testing area
  • Quiet fidgets
  • Read&Write (students need login info from the AEC)
  • Special clothing
  • Step out and return
  • Use of triangular or cushioned writing tool

*For TN Tech Students: When you submit the exam information in RegisterBlast, only list your regular exam time and not the extended time. RegisterBlast automatically adds the extended time for students who have that accommodation. Example: Your exam is one hour, and the student gets 2x extended time. Please submit your exam as one hour long, not two hours long. If you submit it as two hours long, RegisterBlast will give them four hours because it automatically calculates the 2x extended time.

When TN Tech students schedule their exam in RegisterBlast, they will see the above listed accommodations they have been granted by the AEC. They can then select the accommodations they want.

If your TN Tech accommodated exam is not ready at least 72 hours in advance, please see the Submission Deadline information on the timelines page for workaround options.

Faculty of Non-TN Tech Students: You must note any students' required accommodations in RegisterBlast when you submit the exam. Non-TN Tech students will not see accommodations to select in RegisterBlast, so the only way they get their accommodations is by your notes during the submission process.
