Security

Some people joke that entering our testing room feels like going through airport security.  It's not that strict, but we do have security measures to protect the academic integrity of all exams.

  • We have strict primary ID requirements for your students; if your students cannot meet the primary ID requirements, they cannot test with us
  • All areas of TLC Testing are under video surveillance
  • A TLC/Library employee walks around the testing room at least every 15 minutes
  • Only TLC/Library employees proctor exams; students are never involved in proctoring
  • Your students are extremely limited in what they can take into the testing area because most items are prohibited
  • Students have to turn their pockets inside out and pull up their sleeves before entering the testing room
  • Unless in use, paper exams are in a locked closet
  • If your computer-based exam requires a password, students stand in a designated spot where they cannot see the computer screen or keyboard while we type in the password
  • Exam passwords are only accessible to TLC/Library professional employees and never shared with examinees or student workers
  • We keep each physical test, scratch paper, writing utensil, etc. when students leave
  • You will receive an irregularity report for anything out of the ordinary like power failure, fire alarm, malfunctioning software, use of unauthorized aids, etc.
  • You (or your non-student designee) must show a current photo ID to pick up your exams and related materials

Our security and rules apply to all exams we proctor, whether they are course exams or standardized tests. It is vital that we have consistency so we do not compromise our security and academic integrity. It is impossible to tailor our rules and security to different exams because we have multiple employees, multiple student workers, and can have over 200 students taking exams in one day.
