The Office of Communications & Marketing Student of the Year Award
The Office of Communications and Marketing puts a focus on highlighting student life both to the campus community and to prospective students considering making Tech their home. The student experience at Tech creates a community that is an integral part of the student life and the Tennessee Tech brand. The student workers in our office have an important role to play in helping share exactly what it means to live wings up. Because of their contributions to our office and the campus community at large, the Office of Communications and Marketing is honored to participate in the university's annual Student Leadership Awards and to recognize an OCM Student of the Year.
Criteria: Students who are nominated must: (1) be working in the office at the time of the award; (2) demonstrate leadership and initiative as it pertains to their work; (3) maintain a prompt and timely work schedule; and (4) go above and beyond the overall general expectations for a student worker role.
2023 Nominees
2023 Winner
Kaitlyn (Katie) Blair, Student Social Media Team
Our winner of the 2023 OCM Student of the Year award is someone who has done the work
of telling Tennessee Tech’s story with the next class of Golden Eagles. Katie Blair
manages an Instagram account for the Tennessee Tech Class of 2027. Katie’s work in
managing the page has created a community for these students that gives them a look
at what they can expect when they join Tech's campus in the fall. Katie is a great
ambassador for the university and the office of communications and marketing and eagerly
shares with these incoming students what life at Tech is like and all of the opportunities
that await them. Plus, she does weekly giveaways on the page to make sure they have
the Tech swag every Golden Eagle needs. In recognition of her dedication to helping
these incoming students connect, her strong work ethic and all she has done to promote
the student experience at Tech, Katie Blair is the Office of Communications and Marketing’s
Student of the Year.
