Academic integrity is at the foundation of the educational process and key to student success. Students with academic integrity are committed to honesty, ethical behavior, and avoiding academic integrity violations.
Maintaining high standards of academic integrity is critical to the reputation of Tennessee Tech, its students, faculty, alumni, and the employers of Tennessee Tech graduates.
Protecting Tennessee Tech and its community from academic integrity violations is everyone's responsibility, which includes:
-
- All Tennessee Tech employees and students must read and understand Policy 216: Student Academic Integrity.
- Instructors must clearly communicate their class requirements and rules to students as described in Policy 216.
- Instructors are not allowed to penalize a student for an academic integrity violation outside of Policy 216. For example, instructors must follow Policy 216 in order to deduct points from an assignment/exam for an academic integrity violation.
- Students are responsible for understanding which sources and/or materials are allowed and not allowed for class assignments and tests; they must ask for clarification if necessary.
Tennessee Tech's Academic Integrity Officer is available to help students and instructors navigate academic integrity and potential violations.
This academic integrity website exists to help students and instructors navigate academic integrity and the process for handling violations. Policy 216: Student Academic Integrity is Tennessee Tech's authoritative resource and takes precedence over any information provided on this website.
IMPORTANT: All correspondence related to Tennessee Tech academic integrity and potential violations must be sent to and from @tntech.edu addresses as per Policy 803: Email Use. Students and instructors must check their @tntech.edu email addresses frequently to meet all deadlines specified in Policy 216.
