Departmental & Donor-Funded Scholarships
Departments and offices on campus award scholarships to new, transfer, and currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. Most departmental scholarships are made possible by generous contributions from donors who believe in the importance of a college education and want to invest in the future of Tennessee Tech students.
Tennessee Tech is proud to offer more than 600 departmental and donor-funded scholarships, which are for varying amounts and are based on varying criteria. Review the criteria of any Tennessee Tech scholarship with the Search Scholarships feature in ScholarWeb portal. You may also wish to contact the department of your major to inquire about specific scholarships and eligibility requirements. All students must complete the scholarship application each year in order to be considered for departmental and donor-funded scholarships.
Departmental and donor-funded scholarships can be combined with each other and with an Admissions scholarship. All students who receive a donor-funded scholarship will be required to write a thank-you letter to the donor(s) of the scholarship in ScholarWeb. Recipients will also be invited (and may be required to attend) an awards banquet in the spring or fall where their achievements will be honored.
Departmental and donor-funded scholarships can be one-time or renewable for a specified number of years. Students who receive a renewable departmental or donor-funded scholarship must complete the scholarship application each year in order to be eligible for renewal.
Some criteria for departmental or donor-funded scholarships may include:
- Academic merit & achievements
- Financial need
- High school or county
- Student's or parent's employer
- Extra-curricular activities & good citizenship
- Essay questions
